Students in Years 9-12 are invited to join us for an enriching Artist Intensive Day with Sulman Prize Winner, Archibald Finalist and La Prairie Award Recipient Marikit Santiago and the Campbelltown Arts Centre Education team. This immersive experience will take students on a dynamic journey of creativity and artistic expression, beginning with a guided tour of Santiago’s compelling solo exhibition, ‘Marikit Santiago: Proclaim Your Death!’, followed by a mixed media portrait workshop inspired by Santiago’s unique style and techniques.
EXPLORE THE EXHIBITION & ENGAGE WITH THE ARTIST
Kick off the day with an inspiring guided tour led by Marikit Santiago and the CAC team. Students will delve into the artist’s works and practice, gaining firsthand insight into the concepts, processes, symbolism, and inspiration that shape Santiago’s creations. Students will explore the artistic narrative and curatorial vision of the exhibition, uncovering the nuances of how it was brought to life. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage directly with the artist, curators, and educators, encouraging questions and fostering meaningful discussions.
CREATE YOUR OWN PORTRAIT
The day culminates in a hands-on artmaking workshop where students will be guided by Santiago and the CAC Educators in the creation of a mixed media portrait inspired by Santiago’s unique style and techniques. This workshop promises to be a nourishing space for creativity, allowing students to express their individual stories and artistic voices.

MATERIALS
All materials will be provided.
Students should bring along their own apron or paint shirt to protect their clothing.
Students may wish to bring their own clipboard and pen if they wish to take notes during the artist talk.
