Gardens

Set within the grounds of Campbelltown Arts Centre, the Japanese Garden and Sculpture Garden offer a peaceful retreat and a unique cultural experience in the heart of Campbelltown. Open to the public and free to enjoy, these gardens are ideal for quiet reflection, leisurely walks and moments of connection with nature and art.
Japanese Garden
The Japanese Garden is a place of calm and contemplation, featuring traditional landscaping elements, winding pathways, water features and carefully curated plantings. The garden was gifted to Campbelltown by its Japanese sister city Koshigaya in 1988 and stands as a symbol of cultural exchange and long‑standing international friendship.
Visitors are invited to slow down and experience the garden at their own pace—whether enjoying a mindful walk, photographing seasonal changes, or simply sitting beside the water. The garden provides a tranquil contrast to the surrounding urban environment and is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
- Accessibility: Pathways may be uneven in places; visitors are advised to take care
- Respectful Use: Please help preserve the peaceful nature of the garden by keeping noise levels low and respecting plants and wildlife
Sculpture Garden
Surrounding the Arts Centre buildings, the Sculpture Garden integrates contemporary artworks into the landscape, creating an outdoor gallery that can be explored year‑round. Sculptures are thoughtfully positioned throughout the grounds, encouraging discovery and offering new perspectives as visitors move through the space.
The Sculpture Garden can be enjoyed independently or as part of a broader visit to the Arts Centre, complementing exhibitions, performances and public programs while remaining accessible to all visitors.
A Place to Visit and Linger
The Japanese Garden and Sculpture Garden can be enjoyed as a destination in their own right or as part of a visit to Campbelltown Arts Centre, including the galleries, performances and onsite Arts Café. Together, these spaces create a welcoming environment where culture, landscape and community come together.
Whether you are seeking a peaceful pause, an outdoor cultural experience or a scenic place to explore with friends and family, the gardens offer an inviting reason to visit Campbelltown Arts Centre and spend time in its surrounds.
