The expansion of Campbelltown Arts Centre will build on the strengths of the existing infrastructure, growing to meet the arts and cultural desires of the Macarthur community, reinforcing the facility as a state significant facility for the fastest-growing region in Australia. The Campbelltown Arts Centre expansion will create additional flexibility to theatres, galleries, community and workshops spaces, artist studios and an increased hospitality offer.
Project is estimated to be completed by mid 2029.
This project will be funded through the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
From April 2027, Campbelltown Arts Centre will temporarily relocate to the Ground Floor of Campbelltown Library in Queen Street, Campbelltown. The temporary site will enable the Centre to continue delivering a vibrant program of exhibitions, workshops, and events, both onsite and across the Campbelltown LGA. Supported a network of satellite venues, including Council's community centres, Campbelltown Arts Centre will work with artists, local groups and organisations to bring arts and cultural experiences directly to communities throughout the region.
Campbelltown Arts Centre will relocate temporarily to the Ground Floor of Campbelltown Library in Queen Street, Campbelltown.
Campbelltown Arts Centre is temporarily relocating to allow for the redevelopment and expansion of the existing facility at 1 Art Gallery Road. The redevelopment is being supported through $84.6 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant Program and Campbelltown Local Infrastructure Plan which will deliver a significantly enhanced cultural facility for the community.
During construction, the temporary location on the Ground Floor of Campbelltown Library will enable Campbelltown Arts Centre to continue delivering exhibitions, programs, workshops, performances, and community activities while the expanded Arts Centre is being built.
The Campbelltown Arts Centre temporary location located on the Ground Floor of Campbelltown Library is expected to open in April 2027.
Campbelltown Arts Centre will continue delivering exhibitions, programs, workshops and community activities throughout the redevelopment period.
Programming will be delivered differently during this time, with activities presented at the temporary location as well as other venues across the Campbelltown Local Government Area. Campbelltown Arts Centre will also partner with other organisations to continue providing exciting and engaging arts and cultural experiences for the community.
The temporary Campbelltown Arts Centre will have nearby car parking available, including free accessible parking options. The site will also be well connected to public transport; it’s a short walk from Campbelltown Train Station and close to nearby bus services along Hurley Street.
The Café will continue operating until we close the building for redevelopment. Following this period, catering requirements for Arts Centre events will be sourced from existing hospitality suppliers.
