Join artist Annette Houston, a celebrated member of the Yirran Miigaydhu weaving group and long-time collaborator with Campbelltown Arts Centre, for an immersive workshop in the art of random weaving. This intuitive and meditative technique allows participants to create beautiful, organic sculptural forms using natural fibres and materials.

The workshop is inspired by the exhibition Ngarandi Nguradha, meaning “deep listening to Country” in Dharawal language. This exhibition honours the 10-year anniversary of Yirran Miigaydhu (“many women weaving”), a program that brings Aboriginal women together to share knowledge, stories, and culture through weaving. Established in 2015 under the guidance of master weaver Aunty Phyllis Stewart, the group continues today with leadership from Aunty Annette Houston and Jo Tanginoa.

In this hands-on session, Aunty Annette will guide you through the principles of random weaving, encouraging a connection while fostering creativity and mindfulness. Participants will leave with their own unique sculptural piece and a deeper appreciation of the stories and traditions woven into this practice.
