Brendalee Coan is a proud Gadigal woman from La Perouse, New South Wales. Coan creates work that reflects her strong connection to family and culture. Working predominantly in acrylics, her paintings explore the role of the mother in guiding and nurturing their young, her connection to Country and the significant relationships between humans and the natural environment.
In 2025 Brendalee’s Calming Waters gouache painting formed a series of printed artist products for CAC’s Artist Exchange store, from pillows, tote bags, stools and hair scrunchies, the work celebrated her close connection to Dharawal Country, and their work appeared in 'Bobby’s Container in The Key’s Under the Mat' by Mike Hewson at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
In 2020 Coan collaborated with artists Giselle Stanborough, Renee Allara and Jessica Fesic in a city-wide domestic violence awareness campaign that included a large-scale installation on Campbelltown’s Australia Post Office Building on Dumaresq Street and Millgate Lane arcade.
