Little Orange is a Campbelltown Arts Centre working studio for artists who identify as a person living with disability, d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing and/or Disabled Creatives. Since 2014 the studio has fostered artistic practice through the provision of materials, mentorships, business training and access to industry professionals. Working across a broad range of mediums including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, performance and new media, the studio provides the artists with a platform to develop and launch their careers.

In 2025, the Studio exhibited in Fun Park Water Feature Garden: A Little Orange Exhibition (Bobby’s Container Art Gallery of NSW). Earlier that year, ‘Peter Gregson: Volcanoes & Tornadoes’ surveyed the work by the late Studio artist Peter Gregson, a Kameygal man from Sydney’s La Perouse region. Simon Nicholls was a finalist in The Hazlehurst Works on Paper Award, The Eckersley’s Art & Craft Prize and Change and Hope: Lived- Experience Art Competition, University of Sydney. Xeni Kusumitra was the recipient of the MacAbility Award, Fisher’s Ghost Art Award.

In 2024, Little Orange celebrated their 10th birthday with a curated party and Fisher’s Ghost Art Award tour. Imogen Jade and Jenny Kee launched their editioned scarf through the exhibition ‘My brilliant sophisticated spontaneous scarf adventure and journey’. Jezzy Fezzy created murals ‘I’m a Fein For Monsters’ (Art After Hours, Art Gallery of New South Wales) and The Common-room Mural (Macarthur Disability Services).

In 2023, Incognito Art Show generously donated auction proceeds to the Studio and Adam Jones received the Stephen Cummins Residency.

In 2022, CAC presented major exhibition, Little Orange Goes Big, foregrounding the ethos and energy of the Studio. 2019 achievements include ‘Little Orange Presents’ (Sydney Contemporary Art Fair) where Adam Jones performed in a tarot booth, Imogen Jade served drinks at her Creamy Cocktail Bar and Joel Beers offered rides on Tony’s Bus made of cardboard installed over a golf buggy. In 2021, Richard J Bell was mentored by Tongan culture consultant Mary Haeva, and Xeni Kusumitra’s painting of CAC Director Michael Dagostino, marking his tenth year at the Arts Centre, was a finalist in the Archibald Prize.

2020 saw the studio focus on public art projects, including Eagle Farm Park, Redfern Park, Rizal Park and a city-wide domestic violence awareness campaign with artist Giselle Stanborough.

In 2019, Little Orange set up their working studios at The Other Art Fair and hosted the birthday celebration of Campbelltown Art Centre’s 30th Anniversary exhibition, ‘We are all connected to Campbelltown (one way or another)’. The Art Gallery of NSW invited the Studio to collaborate on the AGNSW Art After Hours ‘2019 International Day of People with Disability’ exhibition and Kaldor Public Art Projects hosted a series of ‘Love & Happiness’ Studio talks.

Little Orange Studio is coordinated by David Capra and co-facilitated by Julie Finch.

Past Studio artists include Renee Allara, Peter Gregson, Richard J Bell, Sri Thulin and Sean O’Leary.
