Winter School Holiday Workshops

Winter-Art-Holidays_web_1-1024x622.jpg

This winter we are getting creative with printing techniques using gel printing plates and upcycling clothing to tell a story.

Inspired by ‘Gaja: a story of the elephant’ by multi-disciplinary artist Jagath Dheerasekara, we will explore the story of the Sri Lankan elephant and the idea of using metaphors in art to uncover multiple perspectives.

Workshop highlights:

Guided Exhibition tour: Children will explore ‘Gaja: a story of the elephant’  with an engaging guide who will share stories behind the artworks.

Art Making Session 1: Squishy Prints

Printing technique demonstration: Participants will learn the various ways the gel plate, posca pens, stamping and stencils can be used to create a textured and layered artwork.

Print creation: Participants will be guided through artwork creation layer by layer and encouraged to try different techniques.

Art Making Session 2: Thoughtful Threads

Painting technique demonstration: Participants will see examples of painted clothing and discuss ideas for creating a fashion item that tells a story.

Upcycle creation: first thinking about design and its story, children will map out creative designs with pencil before using fabric paints to create a truly unique item of clothing.

Bring your own items you would like to upcycle such as clothing, accessories or shoes!

These hands-on workshops are designed to inspire self-confidence, cultural appreciation, and artistic expression in a joyful and supportive setting.

Creative bundle:

Session 1 and 2 for $50
