Time to Shine: Mirror Magic with Marikit Santiago 

In celebration of this year’s Seniors’ Festival theme, 'Time to Shine', join featured artist Marikit Santiago for Mirror Magic, a self-portrait mini masterclass and guided tour. 

Explore the works of Marikit Santiago, winner of the 2024 La Prairie Art Award, the Sulman Prize, and multiple-time Archibald Prize finalist. Her current exhibition, 'Proclaim Your Death!', is a major solo showcase that delves into themes of faith and identity through immersive and collaborative art practices. 

In this mini masterclass, Marikit Santiago will guide you in creating your own self-portrait while exploring personal themes and a variety of creative methodologies. Gain invaluable insights into her artistic process, storytelling techniques, and approach to art.  

What to Bring: 

– A portrait photograph of yourself. (Mirrors and other materials will be provided.) 

Workshops Include: 

– Portraits 
Create your own self-portrait using either a photo or a mirror as a reference. 

– Ceramic Dangerous Australian Animals 
Inspired by Marikit Santiago’s artwork 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', join ceramists Natalie Valiente, Aunty Susan, and Aunty Michelle to create your interpretation of a dangerous Australian animal. 

Event Details: 

– Enjoy light refreshments, including tea, coffee, and scones. 

– This is a free event for the seniors’ community, with all materials included.
