The butterfly, a powerful symbol of growth and new beginnings, represents the transformative nature of change.

For International Women’s Day 2025, Make Her—a Campbelltown Arts Centre initiative—partnered with female animators from AIT and artist Victoria Garcia, co-creator of the breathtaking Breathing Life mural on Patrick Street, Campbelltown. Together, we launched a collaborative project to unite and celebrate the women of Campbelltown through art.

Make Her is a program dedicated to showcasing local female artists and fostering creative expression among women in the Macarthur region. It is a space for community, connection, and artistic exploration.

Participants embarked on a journey of self-discovery and creativity with Victoria Garcia, renowned for her intricate depictions of botanicals, birds, and butterflies. She led them through an intensive watercolour workshop, where each participant painted an Australian butterfly—infusing their artwork with a personal message of hope and selecting colours that held deep meaning.

Once completed, these beautiful paintings were brought to life by the AIT animation team, transforming static artworks into a dynamic and immersive collaboration—a powerful tribute to creativity, unity, and the spirit of International Women’s Day.
