First Hand: Drawing and Talking with Vernon Ah Kee

Friday 21 February | 4.30pm – 6.30pm

A creative evening for high school students to meet and work with acclaimed artist Vernon Ah Kee. The program includes a gallery talk, speaking with the artist about his works on exhibition in The Island, talking through his process, sharing sources of inspiration and unpacking content.

Vernon Ah Kee will also lead students in a drawing workshop, learning practical techniques on how to draw hands in proportion, considering gesture and the complex expression of hands.

This is a free program, limited places available.

Students: Years 9 – 12

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are encouraged to apply.
